MCNZ introduced the new prevocational curriculum framework (CF) for 1st and 2nd year house officers in March 2014. This came after quite a period of gestation, which started in 2008.  The original intentions were:

  • To make it clear that the CF is an achievable minimum list of skills and competencies.
  • To implement a high trust model that does not require evidence of achievement of each skill and competency.
  • To ensure the framework allows the capacity to recognize prior learning, what the gaps are and to build on education and training from medical school.
