Kia ora. My name’s Sara and I currently work between Wellington and Hutt Hospital as a Paediatric Registrar, having moved here nearly 3 years ago after spending my house surgeon years in the much warmer climate of Whangarei. My husband and I decided to make our way back to Wellington after soaking up the Winterless North for many reasons, training and family being the main drivers (definitely not for the fishing/diving). Since moving to Wellington I have given myself a new challenge – that of parenthood! Between my children and my dog I have a helping hand to achieve some work life balance by ensuring I get frequent quality beach time, even if it is howling a gale true to “Windy Wellington’s” reputation.
I have been a member of the RDA since starting work as a doctor and have been a delegate for both Northland and Capital & Coast over that time. During these years there have been countless occasions where I have been grateful for the strength of our (RMO’s) collective voice and the reliable support of our union. I look forward to representing RMOs in the Wellington region again this year, and eagerly await the new opportunities and challenges 2015 will undoubtedly bring. Should you have any queries or concerns that myself, or the association, may be able to help with, we’re just a quick email or phone call away. It’s always good to keep in touch.
