House Officers Orientation
Dear Trainee Interns
As you may be aware the DHBs have changed the normal start date of the year to the second to last Monday in November (as opposed to the last Monday in November). This decision has been acknowldeged by the DHBs as a mistake and will be corrected next year, however for this year they believe too much planning has already occurred to simply change the dates back to where they should be. We have been working with them to try and enable Otago TIs in particular to complete their academic year prior to starting on 23 November (resulting in orientation having to be shifted for the Auckland region and Nelson group) however there may be other issues for you that this change creates we are not yet aware of.
Attached is a table of what each DHB proposes to do at changeover. If you have any issues with what is proposed, please contact us ASAP at secretary@nzrda.org.nz.
Finally, please forward this information on to any of your colleagues (especially those on electives) so everyone keeps up with what is happening.
